Instereo
A signal from two different channels mixed together.

Many moons ago media artists Christine Alicino and
Ursula Brookbank met at the old Camera Obscura next
to the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco. At that time a
cosmic shift from film based tangible imagery to digitally
generated images transmitted via the cloud opened
the possibility of working in a new realm - capturing still
and moving images from the ether - INSTEREO* (IS)
was conceived at that moment. Christine and Ursula
began by each taking one photo per day on their
mobile phones (before Instagram), at the end of a year
they projected their unedited images along with a fluky
sound track by Los Angeles based performer Emily Lacy.
A thrilling synchronicity occurred when the images
appeared side by side with the random audio.
Thus began an enduring empathic collaboration that
has evolved into spontaneous, atmospheric happenings
with sound, movement and multi layered projections
that delve into dream-like conjuring.

Happenings include:
Echo Park Film Center, Los Angeles CA,
Westbeth Gallery, New York NY; Studio 280 Kingston, NY,
and random occurrences on the east and west coasts.
Alicino, resides in Kingston, NY,
Brookbank lives in Seattle, WA.
